Grid / CollectR / and Gem Levels
this slot plays on a spacious 6×6 grid that can expand up to 8×8 during play. The core mechanic ditches paylines entirely – instead, 4 parrots collect adjacent matching gems in their own colours.
Each bird moves in turn, collecting gems and feature symbols when a route appears. After all birds run out of moves, Cascades drop new symbols into opened spaces, giving another collection pass. The parrots’ gem collection feeds a meter above the grid; when it fills, one pending feature symbol release triggers, converting gems into random feature symbols. Up to 3 pending releases can stack at once.
Gems sit on 7 payout levels. A bird collecting 3 Level 2 gems pays the sum of those three values, not a single multiplier. Higher levels hit harder – Level 7 Red Gem pays 25x, Level 1 Red pays only 0.10x. The full paytable:
| Level | Red Gem | Purple Gem | Green Gem | Blue Gem |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lvl 7 | 25x | 15x | 10x | 7.50x |
| Lvl 6 | 6.25x | 5x | 3.75x | 2.50x |
| Lvl 5 | 2x | 1.50x | 1.20x | 0.80x |
| Lvl 4 | 0.75x | 0.60x | 0.45x | 0.30x |
| Lvl 3 | 0.40x | 0.30x | 0.25x | 0.15x |
| Lvl 2 | 0.25x | 0.20x | 0.15x | 0.10x |
| Lvl 1 | 0.10x | 0.10x | 0.05x | 0.05x |
Bet / RTP / and Max Win
Stake ranges from €0.20 to €100 per spin. The medium-high volatility core backs a juicy 10,000x max win – enough room for both regular CollectR action and bigger results when grid expansion and level-up mechanics fire together.
RTP varies by casino operator. this slot can run at 96%, 94%, 92%, 90%, or 87% depending on where you play. The 96% version is the headline figure; the 87% tier is one to avoid if you’re grinding for sessions.
Captain Blackfeather and Blackfeather Gems
Captain Blackfeather can land on any drop. When a parrot ends up adjacent to him, he triggers his feature – turns the bird into a ghost, takes over its win counter, gems, and collectable feature symbols. The gems become Blackfeather Gems, which use their own 7-level payout ladder (Level 7 pays 30x, Level 1 pays 0.15x). Blackfeather may also take over additional parrots before the feature ends.
Here’s the Blackfeather Gem payout table:
| Symbol | xTotalBet |
|---|---|
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 7 | 30x |
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 6 | 10x |
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 5 | 3x |
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 4 | 1x |
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 3 | 0.50x |
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 2 | 0.30x |
| Blackfeather Gem Lvl 1 | 0.15x |
Symbol Collection and Feature Symbols
The meter above the grid tracks all pay symbols and Wilds collected by the 4 parrots. When it fills, a pending feature symbol release queues up – up to 3 can store at once. During release, gems convert into random feature symbols:
Wilds substitute any gem at the current payout level and stay on the grid after collection, so another parrot can grab the same Wild if the route allows it. Coins are cash symbols – a 5x coin pays €5 on a €1 bet. Upgrade bumps the collecting bird’s gem level by 1-3; if that bird is already at Level 7, other birds’ gems may get the bump instead. Upgrade All lifts all gem levels by 1-3 at once.
Transform changes a cluster of gems next to the collecting bird into gems of that bird’s colour and may also flip random gems into feature symbols. Super Transform is the stronger version, triggering the effect 2 or 3 times. Tokens appear through the feature symbol system and count toward the 9-token global progression (3 tokens each in Cursed Temple, The Kraken, City of Gold worlds). Collect all 9 to unlock Boss Castle permanently.
Scatter Scarab and Super Scatter Scarab are bonus-related symbols from the feature pool.
Switcheroo / Labyrinth / and Layout Traps
When 2 adjacent parrots run out of moves, they may trigger Switcheroo – swapping positions to create a new collection route. Super Switcheroo sends one bird punching across the grid to the edge or next collectable symbol. When 3+ parrots end up adjacent, Labyrinth fires (not in Cursed Temple) – removes gems from random rows and columns, separating birds along the opened paths.
Portals appear in the grid walls; parrots teleport through them when collectable symbols are available. Up to 4 portals can appear at once, and walls can tunnel between 2 portals. Catacombs trigger when a parrot collects a matching corner symbol – inside are 4 coffins, gems, feature symbols, and hidden mummy positions. Win fights to earn feature symbols; lose and return to the corner. Captain Blackfeather auto-wins all fights. Defeat all 4 mummies and coins fill the former coffin positions.
Arrow Shooters activate when a parrot steps on the trap; shooters appear on the grid rim and stay pending until birds can’t collect more. If an arrow hits a bird, that bird’s gems turn into random gems and the bird is removed. All 4 birds hit converts gems into coins. Boulder activates on contact – a 2×2 to 4×4 boulder rolls and crushes gems, walls, and birds (not shooters or feature symbols). Charlie’s Extra Chance may trigger when birds are stuck – activates random traps to create another movement chance.
Secret Door splits the 6×6 grid into 4 squares and rotates them, moving symbols, traps, and birds. Cross-over floor tiles let birds cross to already-collected positions. Clears the entire grid during Secret Door and the Cursed Temple Coin Game triggers on an 8×8 board.
Cursed Temple Coin Game
The Cursed Temple Coin Game starts on an 8×8 grid with a 2×2 Cursed Treasure area, possible portals, initial coins, and one rotation trap. One parrot lands in each corner. The feature awards 3 respins; the respin counter resets whenever a new coin or bird drops.
Only coins, parrots, and blanks are in play. Coins are sticky; parrots collect them using the same movement logic as the main game. When a bird ends up vertically or horizontally adjacent to the Cursed Treasure with no more symbols to collect, the bird is removed and its win counter adds to the total.
On each drop, a random number of coins lands on the grid – they can land on empty positions, stack on existing coins (increasing value), or land on birds (multiplying the bird’s win counter by 2). Captain Blackfeather can appear during the Cursed Temple Coin Game and upgrade the Cursed Treasure. Once upgraded, the Cursed Treasure has a random chance to award one extra Cursed Treasure Coin Rain at the start of each remaining drop. If Blackfeather is already present when the game triggers, the Cursed Treasure upgrades immediately.
The rotation trap stays pending until birds can’t collect more, then rotates 1-3 grid parts into new positions before the trap is removed.
Bonus / Super Bonus / and Tokens
Collect 3 Scatter Scarabs in the base game to trigger the Bonus – awards 5 free spins starting with the active rows and columns from the triggering round. Grid size, collection meter progress, portals, and gem upgrades carry over between spins. Captain Blackfeather can stay on the grid between spins if his feature hasn’t activated yet. Each collected Bonus symbol awards an extra drop.
If at least one triggering Scatter Scarab is a Super Scatter Scarab, the Super Bonus triggers instead – same 5 free spins, but with one Cursed Treasure Coin Rain at the start of each drop.
Collectable Tokens are split between 3 worlds (Cursed Temple, The Kraken, City of Gold) – 3 tokens per world, 9 total. Tokens appear during any spin except the Cursed Temple Coin Game. Each world’s 3 tokens share the same hit frequency, but that frequency differs between worlds. Once all 3 tokens are collected in one world, no more tokens drop there. A collected token pays the same as a 5x coin. Token progress is global and persistent across bet levels, rounds, and game modes.
X-Tier Buy Menu
The X-Tier button on the left launches Elk Studios’ feature buy menu. There are 2 Bonus Bet options and 3 direct Bonus Buy options:
| X-Tier Option | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Hunt | 3x the bet | Gives a 5x higher chance to trigger the Bonus Round |
| Mega Hunt | 10x the bet | Gives more than a 20x higher chance to trigger the Bonus Round |
| Cursed Temple | 50x the bet | Starts the Cursed Temple Coin Game directly |
| Bonus Game | 100x the bet | Starts the Bonus Game directly |
| Super Bonus Game | 250x the bet | Starts the Super Bonus Game directly |
The 250x Super Bonus buy is steep – fine if the wallet permits, but it’s the kind of option that makes regular grinding feel lighter by comparison.
Theme / Graphics / and Sound
this slot brings strong animations, handcrafted art, video intros, and 3 distinct settings. The parrots’ charisma punches through, and Elk Studios keeps the production value at flagship level. Visual jokes, tiny easter eggs, character reactions, and background touches are everywhere – someone at Elk clearly enjoys working with these birds.
Sound design fits the different settings, effects support the collection-heavy gameplay, and the audio completes the impression. The Big Win screen deserves a separate mention for the tune and animations alone.
